ITER is a unique, first of a kind project that aims to demonstrate the technical and scientific feasibility of fusion energy. Jacobs one of three partners making up the Consortium MOMENTUM (construction management-as-agent contractor) is project managing the construction and assembly of more than one million components in world’s largest fusion reactor. As construction management-as-agent contractor, MOMENTUM is managing the construction and assembly of the first full-scale test reactor to include balance of plant and the Tokomak itself. Jacobs is recruiting a junior Supervisor (with at least 3 years of experience) to work on the ITER Project near Aix-en-Provence, France.
He/She will be responsible for:
Ensures that the site construction activities are executed safely
Leads by example as a safety role model to all parties
Intervenes on the execution of the construction work scope through construction, Mechanical completion, handover to the pre-commissioning team, pre-commissioning activities and final handover to the operations team at start up
Ensures that the construction work is properly identified, performed safely and efficiently with proper respect to all legal, regulatory and customer requirements.
Be involved on contractors management activities to ensure optimum work scheduling and execution
Assists contractor to secure approval of PTW applications
Assists contractor to secure delivery of materials made available at the work face in time to meet construction ROS dates
Coordinates cross site support services including scaffolding, lifting and handling
Monitors and coordinates site construction activities through daily involvement at site
Minimises site construction risk by identifying risks and ensuring mitigation strategies are deployed
Performs witnessing of ITP sampling and hold points
Be involved on contractors Inspection and Test records are loaded to the Smart Plant completions mgt system
Ensures auditable implementation of Nuclear safety PIA and PIC at site
Participates in direct coordination activities as and when required as per the Site Coordinator
Major interfaces:
CMA construction and completions teams
CMA site coordination and PTW team
CMA Quality Control team
F4E site team
Contractors site team
Early morning (6am-2pm) or day-end (2pm to 10pm) shifts potentially expected as well as work on Saturday.
Please note the job offer would be based on a local French contract – this would not be an expatriate assignment.

Mechanical engineering diploma
Leading and embedding safety culture within the team
Ability to lead and to provide clear and concise direction to multiple stakeholders
Ability to coordinate concurrent activities safely
Sense of situational awareness and priorities
Must be proactive, possess good interpersonal skills and must be culturally aware
Managing processes within functional area in a compliant manner
General skills :
Relevant experience in a construction site-based position
Nuclear construction site-based experience (desirable)
Experience of industrial completions and quality management systems
Good spoken and written English language skills
