The Office of Financial Planning is looking for an intern to join their team!
About the Office of Financial Planning:
The Office of Financial Planning (OFP) provides financial analysis across the agency's entire transaction life cycle. The department analyzes the feasibility and financial terms of transactions to ensure that the best value for the Port Authority is achieved. OFP also forecasts anticipated revenues and expenses for the agency in order to determine potential impacts on the agency's capacity to fund its critical capital plan.
Responsibilities:
Credit Review Support: Support OFP's efforts in reviewing the creditworthiness of existing and potential Port Authority tenants and contractors by researching and compiling key credit metrics for relevant industries (e.g., airline, construction, etc.). Assist with financial statement analyses performed to inform Port Authority procurements as well as updating a master list of all security deposits and credit reviews for existing and new tenants at Port Authority facilities.Activity Research: Support OFP's forecasting efforts by researching and reporting on key activity trends impacting the agency's various lines of business. Assist with the preparation of summaries and variance explanations for key updates as needed.Transactional Support: As needed, assist OFP staff with research and data tracking assignments in support of due diligence efforts for general business transactions. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of lease comparison data for various tenants to understand trends.
Qualifications:
Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.Excellent written and oral communication skillsInterest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey regionInterest in public service and/or transportationWillingness to learn
Desired:
Finance, Business, Economics, or a related majorPrior experience as a finance internExperience with data collection and analysisStrong presentation skills, both quantitative and qualitative
Internship Details:
The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower ManhattanThe internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower ManhattanThe hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)These details are subject to changeThe internship is expected to start in June 2024
