Location: Camp CONNRI (Ashford, CT)
Status: Seasonal, Full-time
Rate of Pay: $6,000 - $7,000 stipend plus room, board, bedding, laundry facilities, and recreational facilities provided
Schedule: The dates of agreed employment are to be 6/10/2024 - 8/4/2024.
Position Purpose: Oversee the camp kitchen and ensure the USDA standards for the Summer Food Service Program are met.
Responsibilities
Oversee all camp menus, ensuring that USDA Summer Food Service Program standards are met.
Order all food and kitchen supplies.
Monitor the delivery and inventory of all goods, food stocks, and supplies.
Supervise the kitchen staff to prepare and deliver all camp meals efficiently.
Ensure that all meals are prepared in accordance with the approved menus.
Ensure proper portion size in the delivery of all meals.
Maintain inventory and meal preparation records in accordance with the requirements of the Summer Food Service Program.
Maintain time records for all kitchen personnel.
Supervise and evaluate kitchen staff.
Ensure the kitchen area is clean and sanitary, meeting all State and ACA sanitary codes.
Cooperate with the dining room supervisor and staff to ensure the smooth operation of all food services.
Prepare a brief at th e close of camp.
Participate in theTotal Camping Program.
Attend and participate in daily Devotions, Evening Programs, and weekly Lord’s Day Worship Service.
Sit with campers at all programs and in the dining hall as scheduled.
Participate in weekly Staff Bible Study and Vespers.
Abide by the Camp’s Personnel Policies and Practices as outlined in the Camp Staff Manual including the requirements that all domestic staff leave the campgrounds during all staff breaks between camping periods and that smoking, drinking of alcoholic beverages, use of illegal drugs, and/or immoral conduct during the period of this agreement will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
Strive to be a personal example in conduct, conversation, and attitude consistent with established policies and procedures.
Agree not to attempt to teach any differing views of doctrine or practices or to press them upon other staff members, campers, or guests while employed by The Salvation Army.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must have at least two years of experience in food preparation in an institutional setting.
Must possess a QFO (Qualified Food Operator) certificate.
Familiarity with state, ACA, and USDA regulations is preferred.
Must have the ability to manage time to maintain a meal delivery schedule.
Must have the ability to supervise and evaluate other kitchen staff.
Personal relationship with Jesus Christ preferred.
