Overview of Position: Sustainability Intern
Sacramento State's Sustainability Intern will help promote our environmental efforts at public events and internal activities.
Sacramento State's Sustainability platform consists of 4 Sustainability Pillars: Responsible Sourcing, Waste Stream Management, Fleet Management and Green Building Operations. This position will focus on education and engagement surrounding these environmental efforts, outreach to the Sacramento State community, and support in expanding new and existing sustainability practices.
COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $15.50 to $15.75, depending on circumstances including an applicant?s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This is Aramark?s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.
If hired, employee will be in an ?at-will position? and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Roles & Responsibilities
InternalUpdate and distribute monthly sustainability materials and communications to unitsConduct sustainability/waste audits and develop location competitions Participate in sustainability trainings at orientation and during pre-shift huddlesExternal: Programming & Public EventsManage tablings and campus engagement events (sustainability activities, classes, presentations)Create education and outreach materials as neededAssist in planning for annual eventsSacramento State Engagement and Outreach Be a liaison with students and student sustainability organizations on campus to advance Sacramento State's Sustainability initiativesRecruit volunteers for Weigh the Waste and other events
Research & Continual Development Conduct research on sustainable dining programs across the region/countryAssist in development and management of sustainability metricsBring innovative ideas to continually elevate our program

Self-motivated/self-starter, flexible, pro-active, quick to learn Ability to multi-task with very good organizational skills and follow-through Experience, knowledge and interest in sustainability, food service, and sustainable food issuesComfortable interacting with others in various settings, one on one or in groups Creative marketing skillsMicrosoft Office Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
