Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. General Description:
The Student Service Associate is the initial contact with students seeking entry into the college and with existing students seeking services. The Associate will provide guidance and direction; therefore she/he must be fully familiar with every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
• Exercises impeccable customer service skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students.
• Welcomes students and offer support at the Kiosk service, guiding them to the locations where they can access the services they need.
• Offers guidance on the college admission process, assisting with applications and providing updates on application statuses.
• Aids students in navigating the financial aid process, including FAFSA applications, student loans, scholarships, and updates on application statuses.
• Assists with transcript services for high school and college transcripts, facilitating the completion of enrollment verification forms.
• Provides referrals to academic advising and other student services, including support for special needs and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• Monitors services and flows of traffic in the Student Development One Stop Centers.
• Assists in all projects related to admissions financial aid and students accounts such as scanning & linking, input of transcript and financial aid documentation.
• Manages all aspects of front-end and back-end operations related to customer service at the One Stop Center.
• Handles heavy telephone inquiries, respond to student emails and text messages promptly.
• Assists with various specialty projects, including data entry, filing reports, scanning and linking student documents, and managing mail distribution.
• Supports the Front Desk area by assisting student worker staff.
• Assists student worker staff with working the Front Desk area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
Associate degree required.
Experience:
• Minimum of one (1) year a strong customer service background.
Competencies and Skills Required:

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Work may require long periods of standing.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• Some travel required.
