The student position is situated within the GlialBiology Group (Alzheimer Disease Research within Neuroscience Discovery Research) in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The GlialBiology team consists of 10 members that together bring forward pre-clinical research to understand the role of glia cells in Alzheimer´s disease The aimed project will run for 6-7 months, ideally staring in April or May. There will be the possibility to work on a Master Thesis in that time. The su ccessful candidate would have the following responsibilities:
Able to conduct basic molecular biology and biochemistry experiments.
Under guidance design, execute, analyze and interpret experiments to address key scientific questions.
Effectively compile and present scientific plans and data.
Read and apply relevant scientific literature to support scientific discussions.
Qualifications:
Student of a Master program in neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology or related field . Experience in drug discovery would be an advantage
Expertise in molecular biology and protein biochemistry including method development and validation would be an advantage.
Experience in cell culture is preferred, but not a strict requirement.
High scientific rigor and commitment to provide robust high quality scientific results.
Very good skills in planning and coordination of complex interdisciplinary studies.
A high degree of self-initiative, independency, flexibility and curiosity.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal relationship skills.
Good communication skills and proficiency in English (written and oral).
Ability to present scientific activities/results at internal meetings.
