With the organization undergoing a digital transformation (DX) and moving towards the realization of Digital Twins, and with Prod Ops and Manufacturing engaged in delivering an interconnected, optimized virtual manufacturing environment that is heavily automated, we are looking for people with the drive and the skills to help us turn this goal into a reality in the shortest time possible.
In this role, you will:
- support manufacturing and process improvement initiatives by creating models, carrying out discrete-event and 3-D simulations, and performing new technology evaluations.
- optimize plant layouts by analyzing throughput capabilities, bottlenecks, buffer sizing, and material routing, while incorporating key production metrics (ex. downtime) from various process owners and exercising models to propose improvements
- account for statistical variation, uncertainty, and the impact of unplanned events on overall output
- carry out physics-based modeling of mechanical and electrical equipment while applying your understanding of tooling and automation as well as processes involved in parts assembly.
- contribute to increased end-to-end concurrency and rework reduction by providing early input to engineering on feasibility and ease of manufacturing of designs as well as to M&S team on new opportunities for automation.
- support your team as needed, and work collaboratively with technical specialists and subject matter experts (SMEs) as well as internal customers, engaging them independently whenever necessary.
- work with engineering staff on the design front and IEs at sites to support learning and drive adoption of new processes.
- exhibit solid time management skills in an uncertain, fast-changing environment.
- provide management with evidence-based recommendations to support decision making for investment in new processes and introduction of new technologies, with the overarching goals of maximizing concurrency and realizability of designs and reducing production costs.
- be willing to travel as needed to support staff at sites and help drive the adoption of new technologies, methods, and platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Manufacturing industry experience with emphasis on process and factory modeling and simulation from formulation of requirements and data collection to model validation and deployment.
- Experienced in physics-based modeling and modeling of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experienced in modeling parts assembly and knowledgeable of dynamics and issues involved.
- Experienced in manufacturability of designs and related processes.
- CATIA or CREO CAD experience. Knowledge of SAP and Dassault Apriso.
- Project experience with Lean methods and Six Sigma. Able to define and articulate the current state (A3 thinking), map processes, and perform root cause analyses (RCAs) from symptoms and carry out FMEAs.
- Familiar with statistical tools/concepts and able to perform model sensitivity analysis under uncertainty.
- Ability to assess problems and situations from a broad conceptual perspective and back suggestions up with data and mathematical analysis.
- Experience with MS Office suite, including Excel and Visio. Proficient in Minitab and/or Excel/QI Macros or equivalent.
Note: The selected candidate will be required to obtain an interim Secret security clearance prior to starting.
Desired Skills:
- 7 or more years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree OR 5 or more years with a master’s degree.
- MSc preferred.
- Knowledge of supply chain.
- Knowledge of industrial robotics and factory automation.
- Proficient in Visual Components, Simio, and similar simulation platforms.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
