Communicates with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement and QI activities.Responsibilities:1. Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.2. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient populationserved. Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each agespecific needs and provide care that is needed.3. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treatsappropriately based upon ACLS protocol. Ability to monitor hemodynamic status ofpatient and correctly interpret the results.4. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patientand their clinical conditions. Follows the five medications rights and reduces thepotential for medication errors.5. Assesses and reassesses pain management techniques utilized using the WILDAscale. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management, and documents theresults of pain management.6. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addressespsychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and theirfamilies. Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and otherhealth care providers.7. Is professional at all times, maintains good working relationships with alldepartments and physicians, and staff members.
