Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Staff Cable Harness Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle Software Engineering Department. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
The Staff Cable Harness Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, development, and delivery of multiple cable/harness engineering design solutions. This role provides the opportunity to be a technical expert, take ownership of the CHE statement of work from concept design to product delivery, and to be one of the recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) within the department for Cable and Harness. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Serve as CHE Lead in the development of various CHE products required for the assigned program
Define and document electrical interconnects through coordination with system, subsystem, and unit engineers
Pro-actively communicate with multiple other subsystems to negotiate interface requirements
Incorporate project flow down requirements into the harness/cable design
Prepare Preliminary Design Audit (PDA) and Critical Design Audit (CDA) data packages and support design reviews
Prepare and present harness subsystem design, architecture and implementation plans at various design team meetings and reviews
Assist in establishing harness/cable routing and segmentation
Perform voltage drop analysis and capacitance studies
Experience in RF transmission line analysis and performance
Prepare and release equipment specifications, manufacturing assembly drawings, and interconnect diagrams
Assure the integrity of the harness from inception through delivery
Prepare fuse module, fusistor module, diode module, resistor module assembly drawings and test procedures
Provide support to Manufacturing and Spacecraft Assembly and Test
Support Program Proposals as the Cable Harness Lead
Mentor entry-level engineers
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree with 10 years of engineering experience OR Ph.D. with years of engineering experience.
Candidate must be able and willing to maintain a Department of Defense Secret and obtain a Top Secret clearance with an SCI access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with the successful design and delivery of spacecraft and/or aircraft DC harnesses and RF cables
Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
Detail-oriented and have excellent verbal and written communications skills, leadership skills, and organization skills
Extensive knowledge of military standards of connectors, wires, and contacts for space applications such as MIL-C-38999, MIL-C-24308, MIL-DTL-83513, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-HDBK-83575, DOD-W-83575
Proficient using harness design software tools such as Mentor Graphics, Routed Systems Design (RSD), CATIA and with Microsoft Access and Vision
