Job Duties and Responsibilities
The 5G Core team is seeking an experienced subject matter expert with demonstrated competence with 4G/5G wireless and IT technologies within the virtualized and cloud-native Core domain. The position requires experience in network design, deployment, system integration, optimization, and network management.
As a 5G Core engineer, you will be helping to define and validate the best Core Network solution architecture for the Dish Wireless 5G ORAN and Cloud Native Network. The position will be central in bringing a solution design through the development phase into a mature product ready for commercial deployment. The 5G Core Expert will interact closely with Dish's key partners; Dish Technology, Engineering, Operations, and RF Teams.
This role is ideal for someone with a unique blend of technical expertise, operational excellence, leadership skill set, and strong prioritization, facilitation, and communication skills.
In this role, you will:
Understand best practices for virtualized and cloud-native Core applications for mobile networksSupport translation of network architecture to network development activitiesPartner with Program Managers to execute development projectsFollow the development life cycle to ensure market requirements are properly captured and implemented in the products and solutionsDocument test environments and provide technical publications (knowledge sharing) to ensure readiness in all aspects of new product introductionActively support deployment of Core network functions in the integration environmentsDefine Entry/Exit criteria for new software loads/releases migrating from
Development > Integration > Pre-production > Production environmentsDefine test cases and evaluate the performance behavior of new software releases in integration/pre-production/production environments Support FOA/FFI testing and evaluationAct as a bridge between Dish Technology Team, RF, Engineering, Ops, and Deployment Team to define automation call flows for zero-touch provisioning, commissioning, and management of the Core & RAN solution. This includes call flows for auto-healing, scaling in/ scaling out, migration, hitless SW upgrade, etc. Once the call flows are defined, identify the product-specific requirements#LI-SH6
Skills, Experience and Requirements
As a successful 5G Core Engineer, you will have:
Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or Telecommunications Engineering (Master's or PHD will be favorable)15+ years of overall wireless telecom industry experience as a service provider and/or equipment vendor architecting End to End technical, services, integration, and business needs of the 4G/5G wireless networks5-7 years in technical roles, as an architect, R&D systems, product management, and/or related areas.Strong knowledge of Core Network solutions for 4G/5GKnowledge of Edge, RAN, Transport, Virtual/Cloud environments, orchestration and FCAPS platformsDemonstrated experience and knowledge across Telco services domains - Deploy, Support, Design, Planning, Consulting, System Integration, and Network Operations Good understanding of software development processesExcellent interpersonal and leadership skillsCurious-minded person striving for continuous learning and innovationOutstanding verbal and written communication skillsSalary Range
Compensation: $100,100.00/Year - $143,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total
compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
