Job Family: Research & Development
Req ID: 401998
Siemens EDA is a global technology leader in Electronic Design Automation software. Our software tools enable companies around the world to develop highly innovative electronic products faster and more cost-effectively. Our customers use our tools to push the boundaries of technology and physics to deliver better products in the increasingly complex world of chip, board, and system design.
The Shift-Left Software (SLS) group is responsible for creating products and services designed to help customers shift their software workload specification as far to the left in the device design process as possible. This is important as software requirements are now often driving the hardware specification, and thus, software performance must be considered as early as possible in device development.
Within Shift-Left Software, we provide customers the means to create representative workloads to run virtually, hybrid (virtual/emulation), or on hardware (emulation/prototyping) to model the entire end-device system and gain deep insights into the end device power and performance.
Essential Functions:
Development and architecture of products designed to help customers co-develop hardware and software.
Development and architecture of products designed to run virtually ahead of hardware availability to gain insights into predicted software performance.
Design using best practices for software development.
Leverage CI/CD and agile processes
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or math-science discipline, or equivalent
15+ years of experience in a similar role.
New Feature / Function / Workflow Product and Services Support experience:
Deep understanding of integrated circuit architecture
Experience in simulation, optimization, and performance analysis
Build support for hybrid simulation and tooling.
Compilation or IR support for AI/ML toolchains
Augmentation, integration, and build of QEMU and/or AFM, etc., for new hardware targets.
New toolchains or toolchain extensions, for example, RISC-V instruction sets.
Modeling HW IP in virtual simulation environments (ISS like QEMU and AFM)
This includes traditional virtual modeling environments and accelerated environments that may leverage Hypervisors with a QMEU backend for device model emulation.
Assist with SW driver development and integration for such models.
Extending IP models for performance and power exploration as needed and assisting with integration and enablement of our tooling for such exploration.
Enabling support and optimizing SW for the acceleration of computing for arithmetic. Some examples include new generations of Floating-Point Units, Single Instruction Multiple Data, Scalable Vector, Scalable Matrix extensions, etc.
Optional – applying AI/ML technologies for SW optimization and SoC design exploration.
Preferred Requirements:
• Legacy Product and Services Support:
Toolchain support in legacy OSS and RTOS embedded products
C / C++ runtime library support
Services of ongoing services obligations
LLVM/GCC
Toolchain support for Linux/Android and OSS RTOS / Hypervisor products
Augmentation, integration, and build of QEMU and/or AFM, etc., for new hardware targets.
New toolchains or toolchain extensions, for example, RISC-V instruction sets.
