How will you make an impact?
The Service Product Development Manager oversees the implementation of service and support for all assigned instruments. In this role, you will have direct, hands-on experience with servicing or developing services for our current and future instrument portfolio, with a focus on automated and multi-system integrated platforms.
What will you do?
Support product development and coordinate timely execution of development milestones, launches of new products, process development and support of existing products as established in the product commercialization process.
Represent the interests of Global Service and Support, serving as a single point of contact for cross-platform programs while managing projects and peers across functions and teams.
Work closely with other departments to identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, improve internal and customer-facing processes, and grow service revenue across product portfolios.
Ensure that service development best practices and priorities are adhered to and regularly reviewed.
Plan and coordinate with internal technical writing team to develop necessary documentation including but not limited to service manuals, planned maintenance and compliance services.
Work with internal R&D team during the development of new products providing feedback on design for serviceability, support, connectivity, and customer experience.
Accountable for service and support project deliverables on new and sustaining product programs, collaborating with internal remote and field service and support teams, technical training team, and service software team to ensure no gaps in service and support readiness.
Manage tactical and strategic decisions that impact Global Services and Business Partner portfolio management.
Participate on integration related teams to efficiently onboard purchased technology.
Work with individual Service Product Development Managers, Quality, R&D, Compliance Service Managers, Product Marketing and Service Marketing to drive service metrics, develop strategies and prioritize action plans to reduce service costs and improve customer satisfaction.
Ensure that product changes are communicated to the field and remote support groups as required.
Review Engineer Change Orders, Manufacturing Change Orders, document change orders that impact supported products.
Work with Product Management teams to design and implement an obsolescence plan for all end-of-life instruments.
How will you get here?
Education
Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences or Engineering preferred
Experience
3+ years of Life Science industry experience
2+ years supporting automation and/or liquid handling instrumentation preferred
Experience in service and support organization and/or product engineering/ R&D
Prior experience with cellular and molecular biology applications and instrumentation, including knowledge of techniques such as PCR, Sequencing, Sample Preparation, and secondary analysis software
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to create and understand effective business models to support new business development
Strong customer focus and ability to clearly communicate technical information throughout the organization
Ability to connect, converse, and translate with and between various IT/Software/Bioinformatics partners
Ability to develop and support OEM vendor relationships
Strong organizational management: able to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style based on audience
Ability to determine project communication strategies including how much information to share, with whom, and when
Proactive self-starter and problem solver that seeks support from colleagues and escalates to leadership as necessary
Strong interpersonal skills to influence without authority and lead peers
Ability to travel up to 15% (domestic and international)

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $118,600.00–$130,000.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
