As a Sr Research Specialist you will…
Support Environmental Catalysts R&D by applying your skills in synthesis of zeolites/molecular sieves and zeolite characterization to process and innovate for zeolite product development.
Operating independently under limited supervision, the successful candidate will:
Maintain a safe working environment by embracing Zero Incident Mindset and 5S concept.
Work as part of the Team to complete complex tasks in a timely fashion, including the design and development of new experimental procedures and material synthesis recipes.
Carry out post synthesis modification of zeolites including calcination, and ion-exchange, on as needed basis.
Make observations during the experiments and report/discuss these observations with the researchers.
Document in detail all syntheses and post synthesis sample modifications in electronic notebook.
Document and organize the collection of samples for possible testing and evaluation in the future.
Follow all prescribed sample labeling requirements and always follow the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
Use analytical instrumentation and systems to perform/submit analysis for chemical or physical properties. Compile analytical data, summarize results, and report to supervisor.
Recognize when results are not meeting expectations. Either resolve minor problems through established troubleshooting techniques or advise the supervisor of these deviations.
Utilize software to catalogue and/or plot results, maintain summary files, and develop reports/presentations.
Previous experience in mentoring or training of junior personnel.
Ability to design and execute experiments and present/report comprehensive summaries.
Basic chemistry knowledge (periodic table, pH, moles, acid, base, concentration, etc).
Proficiency in MS Office software required.
Prior exposure to related industrial safety protocols, such as NFPA labeling, SDS, Hazwoper, etc. is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced research environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
Strong hands-on experience and knowledge in maintaining and trouble-shooting lab equipment.
Qualifications:
BS in Chemistry/Material Science with 15+ years of laboratory experience or MS in Chemistry/Material Science with 10+ years of laboratory experience, required
Perform synthesis of zeolites/molecular sieves in autoclaves following written SOP and established recipes, highly preferred.
Strong math aptitude for percent calculations, recipe scale-up calculations, and temperature conversions, preferred.
Prior experience with chemical processes, batch reactors, or analytical test equipment, required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs over short distances, required.

The competitive Pay Rate for this role is $45.00/hr - $49.15/hr. Actual pay will be determine based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factor permitted by law.
