The Department of Neurology is seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator. The Sr. Research Program Coordinator position involves research in human subjects, with and without cognitive impairments, and with specimens and images based on research in human subjects. The Sr. Research Program Coordinator will work with a team of investigators coordinated by Dr. Marilyn Albert, Director of the Division of Cognitive Neuroscience in the Department of Neurology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating all research activities related to the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) study, which is a national multi-center project focused on the longitudinal collection of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) biomarkers including, lumbar punctures (LPs), positron emission tomography (PET) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, blood and cognitive and clinical assessments.
Organizing the staff and faculty and that conduct the study visits.
Conducting clinical and cognitive assessments.
Accompanying participants to the location of the biomarker study procedures.
Assuring all study forms are completed and accurately entered into the national ADNI database by the study staff.
Assuring that all biospecimens are correctly processed and shipped to the relevant central laboratories and that all brain images are correctly uploaded to the coordinating center.
Assuring that subject honoraria and reimbursements are completed in a timely manner.
Completing all required regulatory documents.
Addressing any regulatory questions from the ADNI coordinating center.
Assuring payments from the coordinating center are up-to-date and accurate.
Assuring that all protocol amendments and updates are submitted to the IRB correctly and in a timely manner.
Coordinating the audits of study documents by the ADNI study monitor.
Training all new staff that participate in the ADNI study.
This individual will also be involved in another longitudinal study of older persons, known as the BIOCARD study, which also involves the collection of LPs, PET scans, MRI scans, blood and clinical and cognitive assessments.
Conducting clinical and cognitive assessments.
Completing all study forms.
Accompanying participants to the location of the biomarker study procedures.
Processing and storing blood specimens.
Assuring that subject honoraria and reimbursements are completed in a timely manner.
Entering data from the study visits in the BIOCARD database.
Additional Job Responsibilities
Updating procedure manuals based on the expansion or changes in study procedures.
Assisting with the preparation of grant applications, including submitting publications to NCBI, generating lists of publications that are in compliance with NCBI regulations, and preparing reference lists.
May involve travel between several Johns Hopkins medical campuses including the Bayview Medical Center, the main East Baltimore medical center, and Howard County General Hospital.

Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with a team of researchers and with a diverse participant population possessing a range of cognitive function.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to handle detailed quantitative information and the ability to be accurate when coding data, reviewing forms for completeness and handling data entry.
Able to work independently with modest direction.
Able to work collaboratively with junior and senior faculty, nurses and physicians, imaging center staff, and other related study personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Three years related experience.
Familiarity with basic medical terminology.
Good computer skills including proficiency in MS EXCEL.
Ability to work a flexible daily time schedule, when necessary, based on the study participant visit needs and the available staffing.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
