SR R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER
At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
Responsibilities
Primary:
• Work with our HV team on modelling materials and designs for HV cables in terms of partial discharge, insulation thickness, dielectric constant and shielding, considering altitude requirements based on Paschen’s law and temperature.
• Electrical and thermal simulation of HV cables using in-house and commercial software, preferably ANSYS simulation tools like Maxwell/Workbench/Icepak
• Work with the Engineering team to make recommendations for the next generation ADM Products designs based on the output from modelling.
• Manufacturing and Testing support for High Voltage cables, Connectors and Relays
• The candidate will work closely with our high voltage modelling team and our electrical experts based in California, UK, ANSYS team and help in establishing processes and procedures in design and development of next gen cables and Connectors for High Voltage application.
• FEA Simulations of HV cables, Low voltage relays & Connectors in suitable cad packages, ANSYS, Maxwell & TE software
• Perform Electro-Mechanical simulations for Relays and Connectors
• Signal Integrity Simulations using HFSS/SI-Wave in Connectors/PCB
• Expert in ability to read engineering drawings/product prints.
• Prepare, monitor, update & maintain all engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to understand and document the scope of work.
• Consistent and effective communication/reporting with/to stakeholders on status updates.
• Work under time pressure but produce accurate results.
• Self-discipline to work under changing demands /priorities.
• Willingness to collaborate with software vendor and internal teams to further develop simulation approaches for High Voltage and High-speed products.
• Mentoring and guidance to team in smart Electrical solutions and Simulations within CoE
• Drive Electrical (HV, Electro-mechanical, Signal Integrity) Projects within ADM-Simulation CoE the relevant cost center details.
Secondary :
• Structural simulations will also come on the need basis from the design team to support and recommend design improvements.
Critical Experience
• 10+ years of experience and hands-on working in ANSYS and similar packages on Electrical/Electromagnetics/Electro-mechanical simulations.
• Working knowledge in electrical product designs
• Hand estimates, calculations – strong working knowledge
• Ability to work as a Team player.
• Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
