The Role:
As an Sr. Microwave Hardware Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to design innovative product solutions. You will work closely with colleagues throughout Project Kuiper’s inter-disciplinary team in order to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and optimization. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
As a member of the team, you will be responsible for designing microwave/RF subsystems for use in space.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will:
Decompose system level requirements into realizable hardware requirements. Design and develop a solution that meets these requirements.
Design, develop, and optimize a Ka/K band radio hardware for use in space.
Simulate and optimize RF circuits, perform schematic capture, and oversee PCB layout.
Build up test bench for design verification.
Evaluate and optimize design in the lab to demonstrate solution meets all requirements.
Work with RF system, power, software, mechanical thermal, reliability and compliance teams to ensure solution integrates with overall platform requirements.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
You day-to-day activities will vary depending on where you are in the product life cycle. The team works on-site typically five days a week in the lab. We have a great collaborative environment where to support one another for our success.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in RF/Microwave design, or related discipline, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
7+ years of experience in microwave hardware design to component level, such as power amps, LNAs, mixers, and block down-converters, block up-converters, and etc. In depth knowledge of radio architectures.
Experience with RF lab equipment, including power meters, signal analyzers, vector signal generators, vector network analyzers.
Experience with RF and EM simulation software.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience with designing for space applications.
Experience designing, testing, and verifying, and launching mass production products.
Industry level experience with developing receiver circuit design, mixers, couplers, filters and etc.
Experience with impedance matching.
Familiarity with RF design workflow.
Good analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
