Job Description/Preferred QualificationsKLA is looking for a Design Engineer in our Central Engineering Group in Ann Arbor. The engineer will work in a team of mechanical design engineers responsible for vacuum components across different divisions within the corporation. The engineer's role will entail modeling, designing, detailing, and testing of components and platforms for the next generation of KLA tools!In this role successful candidates will:Lead project teams responsible for the design and manufacturing of vacuum platforms in support of current and next generation toolingOutgas test new materials intended for use in ultra-high (UH) or ultra-clean (UC) vacuum systems for contamination characterizationPerform vacuum calculations for system designs to ensure compliance with system requirementsWork within KLA DfX (Design for Excellence) frameworkPeer review colleague's project documentation and drawings for qualityPerform quality checks on incoming components from manufacturers to ensure parts were manufactured to specificationRequired QualificationsProficient in 3D solid modeling using CAD, preferably ProE/CreoAbility to use GD&T to convey design intent in manufacturing drawingsExperience performing large system tolerance budgets and tolerance error analysisExperience performing thermal, fluid, and vibration analysis (analytical or FEA)Experience working in a laboratory and/or class 100 cleanroom environmentBe able to work in a multi-discipline and multi-cultural global organizationBe flexible and adaptive to adjust project focus based on priority changesExcellent writing skills and verbal communicationAbility to travel up to 25%
