Everything we do centers around people. That means we obsess over how to make the lives of our customers, and their customers, better. And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where everyone can thrive.

NGINX, part of F5, is the curator of the popular open-source project. We offer a suite of technologies for developing, delivering, operationalizing, and securing modern applications. Together with F5, our combined solutions bridge the gap between NetOps, SecOps, and DevOps, with multi-cloud application services that span from the edge to the runtime.NGINX is delivering data plane software augmented by SaaS-based observability, management, and security services which we refer to as a Cloud Service.

  Position Summary

We're looking for a product and people manager with experience as an owner and leader of a native service on a Cloud Service Provider where they have taken it from business case to product requirements definition to launch to proven product-market fit with well-defined and tracked metrics that correlate to a deep understanding of what success looks like for their overall business.

  This position will:

Lead the transformation of NGINX from packaged, on-prem software to a mix of software with value-delivery led by cloud-based SaaS offerings.

Bring new cloud-based services to market for new and existing customers.

Own the product vision and roadmap for NGINX's cloud-based services.

Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to bring new products and new features to market.

Influence cross-functional teams across all parts of F5 to deliver the best outcomes for NGINX and its customers.

Lead a team of product managers responsible for NGINX's cloud-based services. This is a people manager position for 3-6 direct reports initially.

Operate not exclusively in a "people manager" role, i.e., the ideal candidate will be owning and doing the tactical work while leading by example as all our leaders within NGINX do.

Define problem statements and product requirements led by a customer and community focus.

Design and prioritize security features and standards, taking into consideration market trends, customer needs, and competitive differentiation.

Work closely with engineering leadership to deliver new features with velocity.

Work proactively with engineering teams on product design to balance customer value with implementation effort and risk and ensure that all requirements are met.

Collaborate with sales, marketing and other functional teams to drive GTM activities including strategy, content creation, sales enablement, customer outreach, and continuously measuring against KPIs for success.

Engage with customers to drive adoption of cloud-based services and bring actionable insights to the business.

Establish clear and measurable metrics and KPIs for transparent tracking of what success means now and into the future.

Be accountable for the success of security and compliance products and capabilities with visibility for business reviews.

  Personal attributes

An affinity for open source technologies and their communities

Can-do attitude with passion to make customers, team members, and colleagues successful.

Thrive on purpose and hold a deep desire to own a mission. Be an owner at all times.

Natural inclinations to tackle challenges head on and make a positive impact.

Bias towards data driven decision making that incorporates analytical rigor and creative thinking.

Don't just show up; be an example.

Lead with honesty, empathy, and transparency.

Do not settle for the status quo; you are constantly looking to raise the bar and set new standards.

  Desirable skills, experience and qualifications

Demonstrated success in defining, deploying, and realizing product-market fit for a native, first-party SaaS offering on Cloud Service Provider.

Effective stakeholder management with a talent for leading with influence, and a preference for achieving consensus in decision making.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Solid understanding of modern application architectures, web applications and APIs.

An affinity for the roles of DevOps, application developers, and cloud architects.

Proven track record as a Product Manager with a deep understanding of the discipline of product management and a track record of demonstrating and leading excellence.

Understanding of application security needs and technologies: WAF, WAAP, authN/Z solutions.
