Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Market Strategy is an enterprise business owner of data product research and market development that aims to drive incremental innovation and value through CVS’ pharmaceutical manufacturer, payer, and provider customers and Trade data assets. This role has a critical leadership position on the Trade Strategy and Data Product Development team which is responsible for developing strategy for data and insights products that are scalable and flexible. The data products are innovative and non-traditional offerings that support the broader Trade portfolio and strategic near and long-term goals. The Senior Manager is directly responsible for thought leadership and market strategy with ownership of research methodology, execution, and application, market trend and competitive analysis, business opportunity development, and pilot ideation and implementation.
The Senior Manager is comfortable with ambiguity and strives to deliver and capture value for both customers and CVS alike by staying ahead of relevant trends in healthcare, producing white papers, refining use cases and solutions, and creating recommendations about why, when, where, and how CVS can best position itself to win in a crowded market. Data and insights product idea incubation, market opportunity, and test-and-learn launches in the market are a key focus area for this role. As a research and market strategist, the Senior Manager leverages previous strategy consulting and market research expertise to refine and grow our knowledge base of data products and the competitive market landscape. The Senior Manager leverages analytical and creative skills to work cross-functionally across the enterprise to draw insights from disparate sources of information and build new business ideas, initiatives, goals, and strategic plans.
Primary responsibilities include:
Drive development and execution of data and insights product growth strategy: Develop deep understanding within PBM/Trade to ‘see around corners’ as to where the market will be heading, consolidating learnings, and developing product concepts and recommendations to achieve market advantages. Assist Lead Director, Data Product Development with analyzing the portfolio and prioritization among growth and market opportunities.
Produce thought leadership: Research, draw relevant insights, and prepare material (white papers, etc.) for senior enterprise stakeholders and business partners / collaborators relevant to Trade strategy and data product innovation. Prepare and deliver presentations for business leadership in a way that adds value and is easily understood by others who may not have the same background, expertise, interest, or business goals.
Manage new product growth and market opportunities: Manage the execution of novel pilots to promote new business development and growth. Engage cross-functionally across the organization to design solutions, develop test-and-learn implementation plans, drive results, and resolve issues encountered by the team.
Develop innovation business / use cases and new customer segments: Formulate new approaches to how we target and deliver to customers with our data and insights offerings and ecosystem. Assist Lead Director, Data Product Development with customer outreach and engagement.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of related work experience
5+ years of demonstrated experience in Market Research, Data and Analytics, and Product within pharma and healthcare environment, with focus on expertise and experience working in the pharma value chain
Entrepreneur mindset with ability to develop new-to-enterprise and new-to-market data product offerings and solutions
Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills with success building and leading integrated, multi-functional teams in an agile, fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships across all levels within an organization and with relevant external constituents
Ability to generate new ideas, strategy, and potential business opportunities with supporting business cases to bring those ideas and strategies to market effectively
Demonstrated experience leading others to develop analyses, presentations, and support material to successfully implement strategy or change initiatives
Mature problem solving, analytical, oral, and written communication, and presentation skills; advanced MS Office skills
Demonstrate and apply thought leadership
Identify and synthesize Pharma data market trends and projections
Find new data product and customer opportunities
Develop customized market research methodologies
Drive competitor intelligence and landscape analysis

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in generating new ideas, backed by business cases, and shepherding them to in-market launch, especially within large organizations and with external business partners
5+ years of experience in data strategy, product development, healthcare analytics and economics, or pharma consulting
8+ years of experience in managed care which may include PBM, Pharma, market access, account management, or specialty pharmacy experience
MBA or management consulting experience
Education

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$79,200.00 - $174,200.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
