Job Description
Position Overview
As a Manager in the Transmission and HVDC Engineering team, you will beaccountable for the engineering and commissioning of cutting-edge HVDCtransmission projects to expand the reach of Invenergy generationfacilities and improve nationwide renewable energy reliability.
You will be primarily responsible for managing HVDC converter stationengineering day to day activities working with original equipmentmanufacturers (OEMs), owners\' engineers to include conceptual layoutand functionality, preliminary studies, detailed design andspecifications, factory testing, installation, commissioning, andtransition to Invenergy operations. You will also support early stage ofproject development working with Invenergy\'s interconnection and gridanalysis team.
You will support selection of engineering firms to provide ownerengineering services such as preliminary studies and review of workperformed by Equipment Manufacturers. The electrical system of theseprojects will include long-distant HVDC transmission links andassociated converter stations. Some technical support may be requestedon Invenergy offshore HVDC projects.

Engineering Manager
Manage a team of staff engineers and project engineers by providingtechnical guidance, supporting project timelines, and by proactivelyaddressing resource needsProvide technical training and training opportunities to engineeringteamProvide career development training and opportunities to engineeringteamOversee technical and other project requirements that they areappropriately considered throughout project lifecycleEngineering Design Management
Prepare conceptual one-lines for DC and AC systems along with costestimates for CAPEX, project development, system reasoning, andinput pertaining to technology, main circuit parameters and rating,and auxiliary functionsProvide technical expertise and input to support wholistic projectschedule, stake holder updates, and efforts related to projectregulatory, public, or government affairsTrack design schedules and ensure that critical dates related toHVDC engineering tasks are met on timeDefine the scope of all required electrical system studies andreview results for accuracy and complianceCoordinate HVDC engineering activities from conceptual phase throughfinal as-builts including hand off to operations with input intooperations trainingOversee the design, interface coordination and commissioning of HVDCtransmission facilities including interconnections to generation andutilitiesReview calculations, detailed design, and report submittals forcompliance to project specifications and interconnectionrequirementsProcurement and Construction Support
Develop and manage project specific engineering, equipment, andconstruction specificationsReview competitive bids for owner procured electrical material.Support the purchasing of this equipment and manage suppliersthroughout the engineering and commissioning processReview study reports, design drawings, equipment specifications,factory and field test plans, factory and field commissioning testreports including performing factory/equipment inspection andwitness factory acceptance tes ing for major materialsMonitor construction progress both remotely and via on-siteinspections and support resolution of any field issues. Attendon-site meetings with electrical construction contractors and inperson coordination meetings with interconnection utilitiesManage execution of root cause analysis for troubleshooting anyissues encountered in HVDC converter station and associatedfacilities during constructionRequired Qualifications
BS in Engineering (advanced degree in power systems, is a plus)5 years or more of experience in HVDC industryPreferred Qualifications
Hands on experience with Power Systems Simulation tools such as PSSE,PSCAD, RTDS are a plus
Professional licensure or advanced degree
Experience being involved in an HVDC converter station project fromconceptual phase performing preliminary studies through commissioningand hand-off to operations
Actively participating in standard committee(s) or working groups toimprove and develop industry guidelines, technical brochures, andstandards
Familiar with development of interoperability of HVDC systems andequipment between vendors
Ability to concurrently coordinate and manage multiple projects withvarious teams
