GLAUKOS - SR. MANAGER GLOBAL HEALTH ECONOMICS
How will you make an impact?
The Sr. Manager Global Health Economics, based in Aliso Viejo or San Clemente, CA or Burlington, MA, will be part of the Market Access Department that optimizes the value of both Glaukos and its products, through the development of a positive external image perceived by payers and successfully communicating the innovative values of the Company to patients, providers, and payers around the world.
What will you do?
Development and Implementation:
Develop, implement, and manage health economics and outcomesresearch activities for Glaukos working with key internal and externalstakeholders. Identify key outcomes planning needs and help develop and implementhealth economics and outcomes planning strategies for Glaukos products. Implement tactical planning activities required to achieve healtheconomics and outcomes research strategic objectives (e.g., preparationof literature reviews, design and evaluate clinical research studies, selectappropriate quality of life instruments select productivity loss measuresand other patient data collection tools for input into clinical trials, etc.) Develop cost effectiveness model supporting Glaukos portfolio productsincluding budget impact models, cost minimization models, Markovmodels, etc. Develop and communicate study/research results through conferenceabstracts/presentations and peer-reviewed published manuscripts. Preparation of clinical and economic dossiers for submission to healthauthorities, technology assessment boards, and payers Execute Market Access strategies to proactively prepare for health technologyassessment for Glaukos portfolio products. Help build relationships in key markets with government, physician,hospital, and third-party payer decision makers. Provide appropriate in-service training to sales, marketing, clinical,regulatory, and legal to increase awareness and understanding of healtheconomics and outcomes research competency and its role in supportinga product's success. Collaborate with internal and external clinical and outcomes experts togenerate rigorous scientific data and plan for its publication anddissemination to support the strategic plan. Assess health economics and outcomes research opportunities andchallenges facing the Glaukos' emerging technologies and commerciallymarketed products and communicate business impact to seniormanagement. Ensure quality of design, execution, and publication of outcomes researchstudies and quality of models & tools developed for business partners. Develop relevant outcomes research budget, present to appropriate levelsof management for approval and manage budgeted funds. Work with new product development teams to ensure health economicsand outcomes research needs are incorporated into product developmentplans and timelines; ensure all necessary new product developmentdeliverables are completed on time and on budget. Oversee execution for all Glaukos activitiesinvolved in developing outcomes-based strategies and tactics (includingpublication plan) to support value propositions in assigned areas ofresponsibility. Ensure implementation of all developed outcome-based strategies and tactics (including publication plan) to support value propositions in assigned areas of responsibility. Directly manage health economics and outcomes research studies andother outcomes projects including the clear articulation of key researchquestions and appropriate research methods.How will you get here?
Experience and Education:
9+ years' experience working with new medical technologies in the medical device or pharmaceutical arena. 2+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry leading functional and cross-functional teams. Ophthalmic or medical device or pharmaceutical experience with increasing responsibilities and demonstrated successes. Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree or higher (e.g. MS, MPH, MBA, PhD, JD) preferred. Formal training in health economics, public health, health services research, policy analysis, epidemiology, biostatistics, health care administration or related discipline preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills in the areas of health economics and/or outcomes research and planning. The position requires the candidate to be current in the field and able to work in a wide array of settings. Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. and global healthcare systems including expertise in health care financing and technology assessment. Strong communications skills and experience developing interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions independently and to work in a fast-paced matrix environment with minimal supervision. Generous. Innovative. Leadership-driven. Family-oriented.
