Role Value Proposition:
As a lead full stack engineer you are responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions, based on a set of standards and processes which establish consistency across the enterprise, data, reduce risk, and promote efficiencies in support of the organizations and the business goals and objectives. You will collaborate closely with the Scrum Lead and Product Owner. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Disability Technology organization, you will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex business problems. You will lead technical design and development of a cross functional, multi-application claim platform for our Group Disability customers and their employees. This role will be responsible for driving technical decisions, best practices, and development within the Disability distributed technology stack.Your responsibilities include writing full stack code, reviewing code written by the team, design and write systems, frameworks, applications, and APIs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop complex functionality on the Core Disability claims platform and integrate with other MetLife systems using API’s.
Develop with JAVA/J2EE, SQL (PL/SQL), XML, HTML, shell scripts and the following frameworks/technologies: Spring, Node JS
Participate in developing iterative implementation plans and strategies. Estimate as part of release plan and iteration plan exercises.
Participate in user story breakdowns, user story elaboration, and user story review
Serve as an escalation point for deployments, and change oversight, enabling highly visible business priorities.
Provide technical and solution guidance to the team. Conduct design and code reviews for the team delivery.
Work effectively in a matrixed organization to diagnose issues, solve problems, and deliver solutions.
Influence, drive innovation, and coach broader technical team.
Oversee junior developer and vendor development work

Required Experience
7+ years related work experience successfully delivered on large, complex projects with demonstrated technical leadership in delivery.
Hands on development experience with JAVA/J2EE, SQL (PL/SQL), XML, HTML, shell scripts and the following frameworks/technologies: Spring, AngularJS, Node JS, AWS
Experience with the following or similar databases: DB2, Oracle, Mongo
Experience with integration tools using queues andAPI (REST and SOAP.
Hands on DevOps skills. Prefer Azure DevOps otherwise similar alternate technologies is a must.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with focused attention to details, as well as demonstrated professionalism and time/task management skills; ability to establish strong relationships.
Preferred experience
BS/MS in Comp Science/IS.
Experience in SAFe, Agile methodology, tools, and Agile integration with Waterfall.
Experience working on cross-functional, multi-location teams.
Exposure to mainframe systems development with some of the following: COBOL, XML, CICS, JCL, SQL, VSAM, Changeman, File Manager, TSO, FTP, FaultAnalyzer, Xpediter
End to end system design that balances the tradeoffs between technical solution, business value and operational simplicity.
Insurance industry experience.
