  The Sr. Financial Analyst and Reporting will be a member of the Financial Billing Reporting team and report to the Manager of Billing Operations. The role will work with Billing managers, AVP and various business leaders to provide strong financial analytical support regarding Billing Operations for business partners in Small Commercial, Personal Lines, Middle and Large Commercial and Global Specialty Lines of business.

  We are looking for someone with finance experience and strong statistical, analytical and communication skills, with a desire to challenge and continuously improve established processes and to creatively solve new problems on a fun and supportive team.

  WORK ARRANGEMENTS:

  This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Scottsdale, AZ, Naperville, IL and New York, NY) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Responsible for the timely and accurate development and analysis of STAT, GAAP, and management related reporting for Billing Operations.

  Support development of financial outlooks, operating plans, and other financial analyses to support the segment’s operations and strategy.

  Respond to Ad Hoc questions, requests for financial analysis, special projects, and route escalations back to business leaders.

  Partners with the business and other areas such as Compliance, Controllers, & Service Operations, to ensure billing processes are followed and financial deadlines are met.

  Ability to multi-task and independently manage several deliverables simultaneously.

  Builds and maintains good working relationships with business partners and leaders, establishes credibility, strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.

  Review, and perform monthly ‘close-the-books’ activities such as: journal entries, ledger reconciliation, cash flow transactions, and review of preliminary results.

  Develop and ensure the adequacy of controls for financial planning and reporting, including SOX compliance.

  Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in management reporting and forecasting.

  Develop strong working relationships throughout multiple business segments and the Finance organization.

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  BA degree in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred.

  CPA or MBA is a plus, or 5+ years’ work experience in a technical or financial casualty insurance position or comparable position requiring a broad spectrum of technical and financial insurance knowledge and skills.

  Candidate must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and performance driven.

  Strong critical thinking ability and quantitative analytic skills

  Strong Excel skills and PowerPoint skills; TM1 experience a plus.

  Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and to demonstrate professionalism while interacting with personnel at various levels through-out the enterprise.

  Decision making, Customer Service focus, Analytical skills.

  Strong PC skills, including Word and Excel (Building filters, pivot tables and “if” statements)

  ​ Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

  Proficiency in SQL and navigating databases to extract relevant attributes.

  Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills.

  Proven organizational and time management skills.

  Participating in and ability to lead all Hartford Way activities including attending and engaging in huddles, 1:1s and RCPS.

  Role modeling all Hartford Behaviors: Be Courageous, Break Through and Better the Experience.

  Lean Six Sigma certification a plus.

  Experience with Snowflake, a plus.

  Compensation

  The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

  $78,080 - $117,120
