Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, technically savvy Fiber Engineer to help develop and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks.
The ideal candidate will possess a technical background with a strong working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and should also have a demonstrated ability to create processes, create drawings, scopes of work and other necessary technical documentation. He/She should have demonstrated ability to think logically about technical challenges, with the ability to break down and resolve issues independently. As well as:
Experience working in GIS Systems
Understanding of Underground Construction Techniques
Understanding of Inside Plant Cabling and Routing Construction Vendors
Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
Ability to work across multiple time zones

Key job responsibilities
As a Fiber Engineer, you will have the exciting opportunity to help create processes, design fiber solutions, and maintain records surrounding our fiber optic infrastructure. You will
Interface with internal (Data Center Engineering, Business Developers, Deployment Engineers) and external stakeholders (Engineering Firms, Construction Vendors)
Create Engineering Documents, Single Line Drawings and Cable Routing Schematics.
Ingest and Audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy
Implement projects across multiple stakeholders

Basic Qualifications
BS or MS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
2+ years experience working in GIS Systems.
3+ years experience in project/program management with a proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
3+ years of outside/inside plant engineering experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
