Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Systems Engineer installs, configures, administers, and manages production and non-production computing platforms to ensure constant availability, adequate capacity, good response time/system performance, recoverability, and that all systems are patched for security. The scope of technologies includes but is not limited to Windows and Linux servers, virtual infrastructure, storage, and related applications, anti-virus/anti-malware, E-mail, backup/recovery systems, and application presentation infrastructure.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, upgrades, and deploys systems using established standards.
Designs systems to meet requirements and functional specifications.
Manages service requests, incidents, and problems to ensure they are resolved properly.
Installs, configures, manages, patches, and secures hardware/software according to established standards and compliance requirements.
Actively monitors service availability and is proactive to avoid service disruptions and reduce failures.
Develops ideas for implementation to improve overall service availability.
Develops relevant metrics (KPI/SLA/SLO) to identify improvement opportunities and implements processes to improve those metrics.
Actively develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures, processes, and troubleshooting documents.
Works closely with various IT areas to design support transitions and streamline support tasks.
May provide training to System Engineers, Systems Administrators, and/or Service Desk technicians.
Assists with task and project level planning and accurately reports the status of all assignments.
Keeps abreast of new technologies.
Additional duties as assigned.

Responsible for supervising multiple projects.PHYSICAL ASPECTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
8+ years of relevant experience in formal IT and System Administration preferred
Experience with Nutanix preferred
Windows Server OS and Linux server OS (Various Version)
Citrix experience a plus
Windows Services: AD, DNS, LDAP, etc.
Administration of Exchange mail experience a plus
Antivirus/Antimalware experience
System Backup and Recovery experience
Experience with Virtual Infrastructure technologies (VMWare)
Pure Storage experience a plus
Experience with System Security Design and Principles
Experience with Scripting including Powershell
Previous Experience working with External Vendors/Suppliers and Contractors to complete necessary work
Demonstrated Cross-Functional ability to work with fellow IT Associates to identify root problems and design solutions to resolve
High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
