Job Description About this role
As Sr. Engineer II, Automation Core Systems, this role will act as Syncade System Owner (SO) responsible for and acting as the technical system owner for the Syncade Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) reporting to the Lead of Systems, Architecture and Compliance. The SO also acts as the lead technical expert for the MES systems to ensure resiliency and robustness for the set of digital and integrated plant operation systems. The SO is responsible for designing, maintaining and providing technical support for and ensuring availability of the MES in multiple environments. Other responsibilities include:
Interfacing with vendors, users and other groups on site.Leading technical teams, including contractors.System management, maintenance and key performance indicator reporting.Troubleshooting and operational support including on-call periodically.Future enhancements to ensure the systems are maintained in a validated and supportable/operational state.Close collaboration with BES system owners in support of systems within the department’s responsibility, including Emerson DeltaV DCS and OSI PI data historian, to standardize/harmonize on procedures and practices and to ensure cross-training.
What you'll do
Manage MES systems at Solothurn site, ensuring validated and operational state, covering applications and infrastructure; collaborate on BES validation strategy, coordinating tasks, and seeking continuous improvement; interface with customer groups for MES platform alignment; lead coordination of MES platform work, balancing tasks across disciplines; serve as site POC for vendor (Emerson) relationship and issue resolution, collaborating globally on enterprise-wide agreements.Interface with customer groups to ensure the MES platforms are designed, executed, delivered and maintained in accordance to Biogen Execution Systems standards, including: Quality, Facilities, Engineering, Manufacturing Sciences, Manufacturing, and Environmental, Health & Safety. Collaborate with global teams, including the global automation platform leads, to develop and maintain standards and best practices.Lead/own the coordination of the work on the MES platforms (at various stages of the Project, i.e.: design, startup, commissioning, confirmation/qualification and operations) with other team members, including automation, Syncade, manufacturing data systems, CSV, project management and manufacturing IT. Tasks related to other systems within the department’s responsibility, including Emerson DeltaV DCS and OSI PI data historian, is expected to balance workload across the group and to cross train for development and knowledge sharingAct as site point of contact (POC) for vendor (Emerson) relationship and site issues resolution with Emerson. The incumbent is required to have minimum a Bachelor of Science degree in Automation, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or similar.A minimum of 10 years related automation experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including system/platform operational experience of manufacturing systems in 24x7 facilities.A minimum of 5 years in a large scale pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with direct experience in support of manufacturing operations.System owner responsibilities and experience with Syncade or similar shopfloor systems such as Emerson DeltaV or another MES solution including SQL database management, programming experience, network understanding and Windows operating system troubleshooting.Fluency in English.
