About Sr Commercial Proposals Manager

  Job Description Summary

  As a member of Sales & Tendering Team, you will be responsible for providing differentiated, winning and compliant commercial proposals for applicable segment. You will be leading Sales & Tendering of GE Durgapur manufacturing facility to prepare techno-commercial offers to be cost competitive in the market and will be responsible for technical and commercial negotiations with internal and external customers.

  Your role

  The Commercial Proposal Manager drives functional and operational Commercial Intensity and rigor for assigned deal opportunities. In this role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope and have the understanding and experience to execute business objectives, be involved in short-term and long-term planning and contribute to the overall business strategy.

  Essential Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Tendering: Preparation of techno-commercial offers and build customer relationships in order to accomplish sales target and load factory.

  • Enquiry Screening: Compare our capability to suit/win customers requirement, study customers financial condition and feasibility of the project/shop-load-condition to arrive at a decision to bid or not

  • Technical Offer: After receipt of RFQ, request for review by stake holders, collect & analyze and consolidate data, participate in pre-bid meeting, finalize the scope and finally submit offer.

  • Risk Review: Prepare Risk-Review paper (Corporate Risk Management) putting notional financial values for Technical and Commercial pit falls to appraise management of the likely risks.

  • Estimation: Guide, give input to Estimators, Check Material, Conversion, Bought-out, Commissioning, Construction Cost-estimate to achieve market level costing

  • Vendor Offer Evaluation: Review Bought out offers, negotiate techno-commercial points, and Finalize price to make a competitive proposal.

  • Contract Data Management: Prepare & distribute Sales order data sheet (SODS,) Cost details, Preliminary Billing schedules, technical discussions with client to the concerned to ensure smooth execution of the order.

  • Negotiations, Contract Signing & NTP: Carry out Techno-commercial discussions with customer, clarify scope/schedule changes, negotiate price, prepare Contract Agreement to grab the order. Once project is awarded, the project is handed over to project management for execution through contract handover meeting.

  • Pricing: Prepare Unified Cost Calculation including Cash Flow, contingency, risk cost assessment, Warranty, Sales & Administration charges in order to get price bid approved

  • Commercial Offer: Prepare Payment Terms, PG-Fixation, Warranty, Price definition, Clauses for LD, Arbitration, Termination, Spares, Statutes, Project schedule to clarify contract commercial conditions.

  • Business Development: Explore different business opportunities like new product identification (NPI), meeting with customers and understand their expectations, conduct feasibility analysis with stake holders, coordinate for vendor approval, carry out cost benefit analysis and finally convert into orders.

  Basic Qualifications(requirements):

  Graduate in Mechanical/Production/ Metallurgy Engineering with 12+ years' experience in similar fields.

  Specific Knowledge:

  1. Techno-commercial knowledge to convert into inquiry, request for quotation to order of products in power, oil & gas, fertilizer, heavy engineering sectors.

  2. Commercial and financial knowledge required for sales and tendering.

  3. Team building, leadership, fast decision making, innovation, negotiation, presentation, communication skills.

  4. Exposure in working with ERP and general computer skills.

  Business Understanding:

  1. Understanding about different markets regarding cost, quality & delivery, current and future scenarios.

  2. Understanding about heavy engineering manufacturing environment, shop loading etc.
