The Senior Capability Manager needs to be able to navigate the enterprise (UHG, Optum, UHC), build relationships, and gain a firm understanding of shared business needs to be successful. They work closely with their development team and partners to ensure business needs are being delivered according to expectations. The Sr. Capability Manager, along with his/her leadership team (often, but not exclusively, a Director of Capability Management) is responsible and empowered with the authority to make decisions that impact the product and does so in alignment with enterprise business strategies & governance.
This Senior Capability Manager will collaborate with leadership and subject matter experts and work independently with limited direction. Excellent collaboration skills and managing ambiguity is a necessity, as working across multiple business stakeholders across the enterprise is paramount to success.

Primary Responsibilities:
Independently and in partnership with various subject matter experts, Directors / Sr. Directors of Capability Management, and/or Business partners, is able to align strategic capability roadmap(s) across multiple lines of business
Creation of business use cases, capabilities, and features
Leverage clinical knowledge to provide strategy recommendations to clinical & non-clinical leadership teams
Translate clinical business needs into capabilities & requirements for governance approval & development by technology teams
Often works with multiple partners throughout the capability lifecycle
Partners with development team and business stakeholders, responsible for refining & defining the capabilities & features of a product prior to development & release
Builds relationships with customers to deeply understand their needs
Partners with key subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify value add enhancements to existing capabilities
Manage issues, risks, project work and deliverables and engages appropriate resources, providing appropriate recommendations and action steps
Partners with Business & Capability leads (Director, VP levels) to prioritize across customer experience, business requirements, technical capabilities, costs, and operational factors
Ensures delivery of business value aligning features created with benefits. Able to understand the link between features / user stories & business goals (e.g. OKRs, KPIs)
Participates in technology evaluation and selection across the capability/product landscape, acting as the owner of business requirements while ensuring the right technical tools are brought forward that align with UHG's enterprise technology strategy
Provides a clear description and outline of product capabilities & features, establishing acceptance criteria for easy comprehension by the development team
Partners closely with the development team on agile product development and communicate status of capability development to business stakeholders
Leads Demos on behalf of senior capability leaders as well as business customers who are leveraging the product
Participates in agile ceremonies appropriately
Maintains customer feedback loop with stakeholders and SMEs concerning product release, spanning internal and external customer perspectives

Required Qualifications:
Licensed Clinician with 3+ years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting
8+ years working on Agile software development project(s) and/or equivalent experience tracking, planning, or working on software development projects
Experience front facing with the customer, while representing multiple technical capabilities that could apply to business needs
Experience communicating ideas clearly and concisely to leadership (VP level) and technical teams
Experience executing strategic and tactical direction
Intermediate Level Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, OneNote, SharePoint and PowerPoint)
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with high technical acumen (e.g. development teams, architects)
Preferred Qualifications:
Agile Product Manager and/or Scrum Mater Certification
Six Sigma or related process improvement experience
Experience with CA Agile (formerly known as Rally), Aha, or an equivalent agile deployment technology
Experience with data quality, stewardship, and governance
Experience with distributed event streaming platforms
Experience building process flows
Customer journey mapping experience
Experience with managed business rules, predictive data models, and / or machine learning capabilities
