General Summary:
The Senior Business Analyst role is primarily responsible for analyzing, understanding and helping to communicate the impact / value of a product to customers as well as to internal stakeholders. They will use their technical and domain expertise to translate data into meaningful insights and work with other teams (e.g., Advanced Analytics and Finance) to help strengthen the business case for ongoing investments. Their work will be accomplished with little to no oversight, and they must exhibit a proficiency with the tools and technical skillsets necessary for their area of responsibility. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data-led storytelling and will bring the right balance between creative and analytical thinking to help position the value (ROI) our products can deliver for our customers. This position will work closely with the business and product teams across the Workforce Wellness Solutions (Expanded Solutions) portfolio, as well as partners within finance, analytics, and other solutions and/or enterprise functions to deliver actionable insights.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Utilize business knowledge to understand business needs and provide technical analytics and solutions to meet these needsConduct moderate to complex data profiling and analysis to evaluate data sources to determine the best source for business informationAcquiring, transforming and translating data into actionable dashboards, reports, algorithms or datasets that has a substantial impact on the functional area of supportPerforming moderate to complex statistical analysis and presenting findings to guide, influence and advise leadership, including at times senior leadersCollaborate with data engineers to perform data validation and testing activities as appropriateDevelop and build upon existing expertise knowledge of the insurance industry, company and competitor landscapeDevelop and build upon existing expertise of data stored in company databases, as well as emerging trends in business intelligence technologiesWorks directly with internal customers to refine requirements and validate output to ensure solutions will meet expectationsProvide mentoring, coaching and developmental support to lower-level BI Analysts
Job Specifications
Bachelors Degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience6+ years experience with demonstrated success at a BI Analyst II level or comparable data analytics related fieldExcellent knowledge of analytics programming languages (SQL/R/Python)Excellent knowledge of modern BI toolsets (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, or equivalent)In-depth understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis and data modeling conceptsAdept in extracting and leveraging data out of data warehouse, transactional databases, object stores & API based environmentsDemonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical solutionsAbility to embrace change, adapt to the unexpected, and focus energies, people, and solutions on practical and positive resultsDemonstrated problem solving skillsStrong communications skills with the ability to influence various levels of leaders using data and logicStrong and proven ability to effectively mentor, develop and coach othersAptitude and drive to learn new technologies and analysis techniquesIs comfortable taking responsibility for the design & implementation of technical solutionsStrong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,400.00-$174,800.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
