Senior Investment Accountant
HIMCO Finance is currently seeking a senior investment accountant to support the SEC and Alternative Asset team. This position will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on limited partnership investments for The Hartford, including exposure to derivative investments. The role includes partnering with finance and investment professionals to understand business needs and strategies, ultimately adding value to the investment decision-making and reporting process. This role will interact with multi-sector portfolio managers, single-sector managers, traders and business/client operations. The key tasks include:
Support and reconcile financial values based upon limited partnership fund capital statements which include net investment income, market values and impairmentsPrepare the partnership plan/outlook ultimately used to provide earnings guidance, including variance analysisPreparation and analysis of alternative asset disclosures of SEC 10Q/10K filings and quarterly/annual NAIC filingsDevelop, support, and maintain information delivery related to alternative assets, including presentations for senior management and the quarterly earnings call Interact with portfolio management to understand alternative asset portfolio trends, including accounting impacts of new initiativesUnderstand complex accounting requirements for equity method accounting and hedge accountingMaintain strong control environment via Sarbanes documentation and continuous monitoring of internal controls
What are the qualifications for this position?
Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, 3+ years of accounting/reporting/finance experience, CPA a plusBasic knowledge of capital markets with a desire to learn investment strategies, although an investment background is not requiredProactive individual with well-developed communication, analytical and documentation skillsAbility to successfully balance multiple competing priorities with a proven ability to solve problems holistically and systematically in a timely manner.Strong computer skills and desire to learn new applications (Excel, Business Objects, PAFE, WDesk)Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
