SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing complex support to the general ledger team in ensuring timely execution of month-end close and day-to-day accounting activities for the Society of Human Resource Management and its affiliates and subsidiaries.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily activities in the accounting systems, including but not limited to performing month-end analysis and reconciliation for cash, accounts receivables, prepaids, revenue, and deferred revenues.
Prepares journal entries for key financial statement line items as assigned and ensures proper accompanying documentation is attached in NetSuite.
Perform detailed account reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of assigned balance sheet accounts.
Reconcile high volume of cash receipts (checks/wires/ACHs/credit card transactions) involving multiple bank accounts, merchant accounts, and various billing systems.
Perform the bank reconciliation process for multiple bank accounts.
Reconcile and manage prepaid and deferred expenses and its proper allocations.
Maintain accurate inventory count of SHRM by identifying, investigating, and correcting the inventory records. Participates in year-end inventory audit.
Prepares schedules in support of SHRM’s external consolidated financial audit.
Assist in the evaluation and testing of modified accounting system or external databases used by other Departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial output.
Complete ad hoc reports and reconciliations upon request.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a complex, non-for-profit organization (a multi-structured organization requiring consolidations accounting) or a public accounting firm.
Familiar with all elements of financial operation and their impact on the general ledger.
Certifications
CPA preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting terminology, accounting procedures.
Strong understanding of the concepts & principles of ACS 606 Revenue Recognition
Comprehensive knowledge of NetSuite ERP system required.
Advanced Microsoft (MS) Excel skills required.
Adaptive Planning budgeting system experience preferred.
Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, including call-out of internal controls.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with the other departments and external customers.
Self-disciplined and capable of completing job duties in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
Excellent problem solving and good decision-making skills.
Complete tasks within critical deadlines.
Maintain highest level of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work environment
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Expected travel is 0-10% of the time.
The hiring range for this position is $82,000 to $105,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
