OmniSeq by Labcorp is looking for a Specimen Accessioner to join our team in Buffalo, NY. The Specimen Accessioner receives clinical and testing material in the laboratory; accessions and routes testing material to appropriate areas; requests samples from laboratories and performs timely follow up; tracks materials sent to and received from referral laboratories; assists with quality assurance activities; inventory management.
Primary Duties:
Receives and accessions laboratory testing material within various laboratory information management system(s) utilizing appropriate blood/body fluid precautions
Stores laboratory samples maintaining the integrity of the physical/electronic inventory
Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages
Obtains required release of information signatures from patients to obtain laboratory materials when required
Packages laboratory material for delivery to referral testing laboratories in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA requirements
Packages diagnostic specimens for return in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA requirements
Assists in ordering, receiving, storing, distributing, and controlling laboratory supply inventories
Maintains files and stores relevant laboratory documentation in accordance with regulatory standards for required storage periods.
Participates in laboratory quality assurance activities
Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.
Attends meetings as required
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Required Education and Experience:
Associates degree in healthcare discipline; preferred candidate will have Associate’s degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology; or
High school diploma or G.E.D. and current enrollment in an approved BS program in Clinical Laboratory Technology; or
High school diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of two (2) years of full time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology.
Pay Range: $ 19.00 - $23.43
