The Trading Operations Specialist will utilize various applications and be responsible for completing multiple operational functions, including but not limited to, DCC&S trade reject resolution and in-kind asset transfers of various asset types (mutual funds, exchange traded funds, stock unitization funds, etc.) related to participant level rollovers and client level conversion/deconversions. The candidate will work closely with the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), Depository Trust Company (DTC) and other Schwab proprietary trading/record-keeping systems and their platform product owners. This role will have continuous communications with our Client Services/Conversions teams, internal/external regulators and auditors, and other operational business partners. A minimum of 3-5 years brokerage, transfer agent or trust operations experience is highly preferred with 1-2 years of financial operations related experience being required.
What you’ll do:
In addition to the above, there will be some opportunity to work on process enhancements/change requests as business/client needs continually evolve and require adjustments with many of our user developed tools. The expectation is that the candidate will have the ability to input project enhancement requests for our technology team to refine, enhance, modify, and/or complete user-acceptance testing while also maintaining functionality and compliance of said tools. The Trading Ops Specialist will also assist and/or be responsible for delivering large mutual fund trade notifications and self-directed brokerage account record-keeping data for our Trust Plan Administrators. Experience with ERISA/5500 compliance trust reporting is not required but is preferred. The individual will be responsible for facilitating trade rejects, fund company inquiries, monitoring trade files, settling trade rejects, submitting trades and other various operations duties as required.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow established process and procedures, be able to train on the job while having the ability to meticulously review/ensure proper quality control measures are adhered to. Critical and outside the box thinking is a must. The ability to learn and understand end-to-end operational process flows are critical to success in this role. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively within a team environment and with other back-office professionals at asset management firms and industry business partners.
Previous trading or transfer operations experience in the retirement industry is strongly preferred.
Above average communication skills that include communicating to external clients, management, and business partners.
Demonstrated analytical skills that include the ability to research and resolve issues to completion.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Advanced MS Excel skills required.
The hours for this position will primarily be 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM PT / 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CT, but please note the team’s daily business coverage runs from 4:30 AM – 3 PM PDT / 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM CST so scheduled start times are subject to slight variations.
