As an Investment Writer, you will work closely with IMG’s investment professionals to communicate their latest investment insights into meaningful, appealing and engaging written communications. You will be responsible for producing both short-form, news cycle driven content, as well as deeper, longer-form pieces based on our Investment team’s in-depth research. You’ll create content that is accurate, comprehensive and well-written in order to help IMG reach our goal of driving engagement and sales across all of Nationwide Financials’ distribution channels.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Works cross-functionally with other teams (including Marketing and Media relations) to amplify IMG publications in the support and development of integrated marketing strategies and projects in accordance with agreed business and marketing plans
Writes and oversees the creation of investment content and production of high-profile deliverables (e.g., thematic papers, market commentaries, social media and special projects) for scheduled and periodic internal and external media.
Stays current on industry and regulatory trends and pitches timely article ideas based on relevant news and topical investment ideas to be used across media platforms.
Conducts meetings/interviews with portfolio managers and senior management for new content and white papers.
Develops performance commentaries leveraging investment team and individual research, attribution reports and other data analytics.
Attends investment meetings with portfolio managers and research analysts to build knowledge of underlying investment strategies and learn the “voice of the PM” to effectively develop communications.
Partners with senior leadership of investment team to create presentations and meaningful communications with Mutual Fund Board of Trustees and other Distribution channels to communicate investment story.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Sr. Consultant and does not have direct reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in English, Communications, Economics or similar discipline. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 6 years of experience in the Financial Media and/or Financial Services industry in asset management/wealth management.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of macroeconomics and financial markets is essential, along with the ability to create visual presentations working directly with raw data. Effective interpersonal skills, proficiency at prioritization, proven experience with simultaneously managing multiple tasks, and the ability to operate under scheduled deadlines. Proficiency interpreting statistical and financial information; strong ability to translate data to support written statements. Excellent research and analytical skills, including ability to perform mathematical calculations or analyses and accurately proofread documents. Works autonomously, with limited general direction/supervision; work is reviewed for accuracy and reflection of investment team views. Experience working with cross-functional and multi-channel teams (e.g., Portfolio Management, Marketing, Legal, Compliance). Superb writing and editing abilities, and excellent interviewing skills.
