Thisposition is full time working with our Twain Middle School program.Under the direction of the program supervisor and Director of SpecialEducation, the Licensed Special Education Teacher develops and providesspecialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students withdisabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress againstinstructional objectives; follows Massachusetts\' mandated due processprocedures and functions as IEP manager to assigned students. Thefollowing outline of the role and responsibilities is intended toprovide a broad overview, but is subject to change according to theneeds of LPVEC, as required by the Executive Director. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS (SEE THE LPVEC WEBSITE FOR COMPLETE LIST OF ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS.) \>Provide academic instruction and behavior modificationapproaches in a highly structured, therapeutic day school setting. In asmall class setting, the teacher will address the academic andemotional/behavior needs of the students set forth in their IndividualEducation Plan (IEP). \>Plans and carries out Individual EducationalPrograms (IEPs) that meet student needs and conform to state and federallaws, including preparation of reports are accurate and on time,including IEP goals for annual meetings, report cards, and progressreports. \>Provides services to assigned students so that the studentsmay access the general curriculum consistent with Massachusetts stateframeworks. Job Requirements Required Education and Experience:QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: to perform this job successfully, anindividual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,skill, and/or ability required. Understanding of special education law and itsimplementation. Evidence of successful experience with students insubstantially separate educational programs. Training and experience inlearning theory, learning styles, diagnosis and remediation of specialeducation learning deficits, and criterion-referenced testing.Development and implementation of individual educational programs (IEP).Training and experience in current educational theory and practice,including behavior modification and reinforcement theory and practice.Training and experience in educational theory and practice for studentswith social and emotional disabilities. Ability to provide physicalassistance to students as needed. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid Massachusetts teaching license in special education, 5-12 ModerateDisabilities At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.Bachelor degree preferred.
