About You
We’re looking for an individual who is safety oriented, innovative and dependable. You will have a valid Standardized or Manitoba Second Class Power Engineer’s Certificate. Would also consider a 3rd Class Power Engineer with significant progress towards the 2nd Class.
The applicant will be required to provide:
Coverage for the Shift Power Engineers 12-hour shifts during periods of planned vacation and absenteeism and to work some overtime.
Take a course and obtain Wastewater Works Small System Operator certificate.
Be a self-starter; able to organize his work and operate efficiently with a minimum of supervision and will receive an in-plant operational training.
About the Role
As a member of the Production Team, you will be reporting to the Chief Power Engineer. The Spare Shift Power Engineer is responsible for:
Conduct maintenance tasks and activities in the Boiler Room and Dry House including planned maintenance of equipment, repairs, installation and plant improvements.
Respond promptly and appropriately to plant emergency and breakdown situations.
Provide coverage for Shift Power Engineers during periods of planned vacation and absenteeism.
When on shift, operate the Boiler Room and Dry House and all associated equipment and systems: high pressure steam boilers, water treatment system, cooling water system, air compressors, evaporator effects, centrifuges, cooler, dryer, conveyors, etc.
Experience required - Skills & Capabilities
A valid Standardized or Manitoba Second Class Power Engineer’s Certificate. Would also consider a 3rd Class Power Engineer with significant progress towards the 2nd Class.
Experience operating a 1st Class Powerhouse as a Shift Power Engineer.
Good general knowledge of the maintenance functions of a process industry is essential.
Must be computer literate.
Experience in DCS process control systems.
Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication skills.
