Job Description:This position performs a variety of diagnosticcardiac/vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identificationof abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.
Scope
Produces high quality ultrasound images and obtains appropriate measurementsforeach exam.
Recognizes the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal tissue structuresand provide the best image quality for documentation.
Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently andcorrectly.
Obtains and evaluate pertinent patient history and physical findings that mayaffect the sonographic examination.
Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort andcooperation.
Monitors during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insurepatient emotional and physical well-being.
Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner topatients and to referring physician offices as required.
Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensure proper equipmentmaintenance and equipment safety.
Calibrates and maintain equipment and order supplies when needed.
Schedules and coordinate tests.
Prepares and maintain operational logs.
Assists with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography program is required
One (1) current/valid certifications from the following list required:1) Registry Eligible 2) American Registry of Diagnostic MedicalSonographers (ARDMS) certification with Registered Diagnostic CardiacSonographer (RDCS) 3) Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) 4)Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential
Two (2) years related sonography experience is required

Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of current principles, standards, procedures, protocols,techniques and tools/equipment relating to ultrasound examination andrelated procedures.
Knowledge of the intent, content and application of local, state andfederal employee health standards, and regulatory requirements applicable todiagnostic ultrasound examination.
Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and readinformation, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identifyequipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient careproviders, patients, and visitors that require employee to verballycommunicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms,needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencysituations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complexand delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequentcomputer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing neededinformation, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift andutilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend toretrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes itemsof varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk andassist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributingsupplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portableequipment, including heavy items.
