The Opportunity
Abt Associates seeks a leader to grow our solid waste management practice, focusing on climate and environment solutions to address plastic pollution and methane emissions via organic waste management. This position will support a range of governments, including the US Environmental Protection Agency, US Agency for International Development, and state, local, and national governments. Key areas of focus include analysis of pollution prevention options, policy and financing design and implementation, stakeholder engagement, and program implementation.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead efforts to identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities related to solid waste management.
Work with Abt technical teams to produce high-quality technical work.
Provide technical expertise to clients in areas related to solid waste management, with a focus on plastic pollution and mitigation of methane emissions from organic waste.
Cultivate sustained client relationships.
Lead efforts to improve Abt’s reputational capital through publications, social media, and customer engagement.
What We Value
Master’s Degree + Seven years of relevant experience or PhD + Four years of relevant experience.
Practical or policy experience in the solid waste sector (e.g., working with stakeholders on the ground, supporting policy initiatives).
Prior consulting experience or experience working as a federal government employee and/or the solid waste management industry.
Understanding of federal clients, such as the Environmental Protection Agency or USAID.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including setting priorities and adapting to changes in a time-sensitive, deliverable driven workplace.
Established network of professional contacts in the solid waste and climate change communities.
Broad professional expertise and interest, across various energy, environmental, climate, infrastructure, and other related issues.
Experience with project management and client management.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $91,408.75 to $146,254.01 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
