Software Product Owner (Hybrid)

Tapestry Solutions, a part of Boeing Global Services BGS, is seeking a Software Product Owner in San Diego, CA . In this role you will help lead the software development process and be a part of a self-sufficient Scrum Team. The Software Product Owner (PO) acts as a servant leader, interacting with Product Management and Architecture to understand requirements, then work with the team to elaborate, prioritize and decompose into technical features and stories to be executed by the team. The PO acts as a liaison between the team to the customer and product stakeholders, and is the daily voice to the team facilitating planning, scoping and buy-off exercises allowing the Scrum Team to focus on writing code rather than the writing/clarification of requirements, or pursuing acceptance of features. This role enables the Scrum Team to avoid task switching, ultimately allowing more dedicated capacity for software to be developed and released to market.
The Software Product Owner has daily interactions with the Scrum Team including participation in daily stand-up, providing guidance on development and acceptance of features. You will also ensure that features are outlined with Product Management and architecture in adequate detail, ready for elaboration to the Scrum Team, minimizing variances in the quality of requirements and lessening the risk of features which lack adequate details to be given to Scrum Teams to work.
Position Responsibilities:
Works closely with product management, customers, and the scrum team. Champions exposing the scrum team to Product Management and customers for planning and acceptance of features. Acts as the daily voice of the customer and product manager to the scrum team on questions related to execution of a feature scope
Develops and adheres to a definition of done that captures functional, non-functional requirements, (and at Boeing aligns to DoR criteria). Utilizes definition of done with scrum team/Product Management to define, estimate and buy-off features and stories
Champions the delivery of the greatest business value with lowest effort required that enables the customer. Scrutinizes features and capabilities on their prioritization and their inclusion in a program increment and release; Is aware of backlog scope and priorities versus capacity and facilitates trade-off discussions with Product Management and the scrum team
Continuously grooms and prioritizes the team backlog via backlog grooming sessions with the scrum team, ensuring the team’s estimates on work are accurately sized and ready in accordance to anticipated work (in alignment to product roadmap)
Partners with the Scrum master to ensure Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, demos, retrospectives) are performed every sprint and PI accordingly; Facilitates demo sessions for product management and architecture every sprint, and with the customer (on an agreed upon interval with the customer/Product Management).
Advocates for agility, team self-sufficiency, protects the team’s commitments once the sprint plan has been made; Open to negotiation for prioritization prior to next sprint as a result of product management or customer feedback
Holds the line with stakeholders and the team to ensure a mix of feature delivery, technical debt, and innovation activities are included in team operating rhythms and committed plans
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Work experience as a Software Product Owner or similar role in software product management
5+ years of experience in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) that control daily warehouse operations, from receiving, put-away, and pick, pack, and shipping processes to inventory tracking and replenishment.
Understanding of supply chain processes to help manage flow of information, materials and services from suppliers through warehouses to the end customer.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Highly motivated self-starter that is a critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, a strong work ethic
Confidence and knowledge to successfully own the product backlog
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Good time management and prioritization capabilities
Skilled in cross-department and cross-functional collaboration
Experience in writing logical, detailed, and complete product requirements, including functional/non-functional requirements and utilizing modern Agile backlog tools
Strong leadership and consensus-building skills; Product Management and strategic planning experience; a proven track record in developing and administering a product line.
Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework is a plus
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)
