Meet Our Team:
The Ad Tech group works on building state-of-the-art Ad technology platforms and services that power the Discovery + and other digital services offered by Warner Bros. Discovery globally. We focus on all aspects of streaming video: live and VOD pipelines, metadata transformation, ad tech, server-side ad insertion, CDN integrations, playback services, video player backends, and AI/ML-based personalization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
We are hiring Software Development Managers to join our team. The ideal candidate has a track record of creating the identity for a team and defining how that team works within a larger organization. You have mastered the ability to delegate both tasks, and larger assignments to your team, and ensure that the right results are achieved even without your constant oversight. You are a technical leader that people turn to when they want to build something new as you can align with company priorities and processes and create new ones where needed.
Develop a deep understanding of WBD Streaming's Ad product and platform engineering teams and their quality needs.Be a champion of engineering and operational excellence, establish team metrics for measurement of quality and operational excellence and a consistent, regular process for improvements.Build and manage a team of high-performing engineers. Ensure retention through challenging professional opportunities and career growth prospects.You understand a broad range of computer science concepts, and know how, when, and when not to use them.You can dive deep into a wide range of technical problems offering suggestions and feedback to your team. Your interest in computer science has not faded as you moved into a leadership role and you are still comfortable with technical details.You work with key stakeholders to deliver a high-quality product ensuring that software development is and remains under control and on track.Your written and verbal communication skills are top notch. You can distill key points out of complex technical descriptions to share with non-technical stakeholders, adapting your language and style of communication depending on the audience. You communicate through data, dates, and facts using emotion judiciously to motivate and inspire.You lead by example and do not consider yourself above individual contributor work. You are comfortable teaching best practices by showing developers, not just telling people. Teams follow your lead because you are an inspirational leader, because you are right, and because you can show everyone high quality examples of your own work.You have demonstrated the capacity to make decisions for more than one development team or functional area showing that your judgment is fungible.
What to Bring:
14 - 17 years of experience working across multi-disciplinary global teams across client-side frontend and backend services. Familiarity with various clients such as Web, iOS, Android, Roku, Fire TV, etc.Lead and managed a software development team that's geographically diverse - providing direction, setting goals, recruiting & mentoring both ICs and junior leaders.Computer Science fundamentals in functional programming design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.Knowledge of large-scale application architecture, design, implementation, and performance tuning.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined measurement criteria.Excellent written communication, problem solving, process management, cross-team collaboration, and high customer empathy.Strive in a culture of innovation - always exploring ways to say yes and try out new ideas and living outside your comfort zone.Comfort in handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong ability to influence teams and groups outside your wider organization with your deep insight and strategic thinking.BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
