LOCATION/HOURS
This is a part-time, remote position. It is expected that position duties will be performed remotely. Access to our office location and event attendance is optional, with the understanding that SEO will consult government and public health advisories to help us determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.

ABOUT TECH DEVELOPER
The SEO Tech Developer is an intensive immersion pilot initiative for ~100 Black, Latinx and Native American rising college juniors majoring in computer science or computer engineering. Launched with the guidance of tech industry leaders, this program will help close the preparation gap for students of color through knowledge, training and experience. The SEO Tech Developer will also speed the development of the technical and soft skills required for entry-level tech roles at leading tech companies and startups — with an emphasis on the application of programming tools in addressing real world problems. The program, now entering its third year, has a proven track record of success: 87% of students in the Year 1 cohort landed and completed summer 2022 internships at top companies including Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and Oracle.
POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Software Engineering Instructor to lead the teaching of the SEO Tech Developer program. This role will interface directly with our technical education team to implement the curriculum provided in our interactive learning platform, ensuring students are prepared to launch successful careers in the tech industry. The Software Engineering Instructor will be responsible for managing the program’s Lead Teaching Assistant. They will also collaborate with other program stakeholders to continuously assess and address program effectiveness.
We are looking for an individual who will bring enthusiasm for learning and the ability to motivate and cultivate underrepresented individuals to grow their software engineering skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
Teaching experiences (e.g., facilitating meetings, delivering training, mentorship) Proficiency in our tech stack (see below) A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of distributed stakeholders Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively to implement and deliver program’s curriculum Deep understanding and commitment to carrying out SEO’s mission of creating a more equitable society DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as a software developer or similar industry role Experience leading or working collaboratively with an instructional team Demonstrable project management experience TECH STACK
Required: Strong Python skills Comfort working with various APIs and libraries Preferred: Basic command line/bash Basic version control (Git/Github) Basic familiarity of web technologies (JS/HTML/CSS) Basic understanding of the social impacts of technology TIME COMMITMENT & SALARY
8 weeks during summer months (June – August) 25 hours per week of preparation time, instruction, and office hours $2,000-$2,500/weekly depending on experience COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting.
