Position Overview
We are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer with excellent programming skills to work on a research software platform for perception enabled manipulation. We are a team of researchers, engineers, designers and industry domain experts working on projects that range from reinforcement-learning, deep-learning, computer vision, motion planning, simulation, human-robot cooperation and more for robotic applications in manufacturing and construction. We work out of the beautiful Autodesk Pier 9 facility on the San Francisco Bay and collaborate with other groups in Autodesk Research including the AI Lab.
You will be part of Autodesk's Research Engineering team -- a group that collaborates with the Robotics Lab in developing software that helps drive both research and platform initiatives. Autodesk's Robotics Lab is active in the wider research community, targeting publications at ICRA, IROS, CoRL, RSS, RoboARCH and other top-tier conferences. We collaborate with top academic labs and industry, combining the best of an academic environment with product-driven research.
You will report to the Senior Manager, Research Engineering
Location: San Francisco, California
Responsibilities
Architect well-thought-out software as part of our software research platform for enabling perception enabled robotic manipulation
Develop drivers for robots, grippers, cameras and other hardware
Research and integrate third-party robotics, perception and machine learning software libraries
Build and test applications on industrial robots
Communicate new ideas, roadblocking problems, and results -- good or bad -- with the team
Collaborate with other engineers and researchers on the team
Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS in Computer Science, Robotics Mechanical Engineering, or an affiliated discipline
Excellent programming and software development skills using Python and modern C++ Have a systems mindset to developing software for robotics applications
5+ years of experience working with large codebases
5+ years of experience developing robotics software with ROS or other robotics middleware environments
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience with 3D graphics and real-time development tools (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.)#LI-JK1

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $139,100 and $224,950. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
