Description
Amazon's Topline Forecasting group is looking for a seasoned and technical software development manager. We build the systems and algorithms that predict customer demand for all products sold on the Amazon platform--a key input to Amazon's entire supply chain. We are applying advanced statistics and machine learning techniques to improve forecast accuracy, while tackling cutting edge "big data" problems in storage and computation.
You will be responsible for leading a team of talented software developers in the design and development of systems that improve delivery of the forecast to our customers. You will define the vision and technical roadmap, while satisfying scalability, reliability and performance goals. You will own and drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment. You will participate in the overall planning, execution, and success of a complex cross-functional team, work closely with research and other development teams, actively participate in recruitment of candidates for technical positions and mentor junior technical staff.
Successful candidates will have an established track record delivery developing complex software systems, excellent people and project management skills, keen technical aptitude, solid communication skills, and be driven to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of engineering team management experience
7+ years of engineering experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
