Key job responsibilities
Software Development Engineers are significant contributors and have the opportunity to positively impact millions of customer’s experience. Additional responsibilities are and not limited to:
Gain hands on knowledge and expertise in designing, building and operating software services at AWS' scale
Develop tools and services to help automate and monitor data center operations
Have end-to-end ownership of projects
Use available AWS-related technology to build innovation solutions to challenging problem
Solve complex problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.
Work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant. You write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand.
Take on projects and make software enhancements that improve team software and processes.
Work to resolve the root cause of complex problems, leaving software better and easier to maintain than when you found it.

As a Software Development Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure, you will work with a diverse team of highly skilled software and data engineers to invent, design, and build highly scalable, stable, and performant software. You will build on the latest AWS and industry technologies to deliver the best of Amazon and our capabilities.
About the team
The HostMonitoring team in Data Center Systems is looking for software engineers to help us build next generation data center management software. We are seeking experienced Software Development Engineers to design and develop software for monitoring the health and availability of AWS data centers across the globe.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Denver, CO, USA | Seattle, WA, USA
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
