Description
We’re looking for someone to take a leading role in making the Rust builder experience at Amazon the best it can be. This spans everything from improving the open-source, idiomatic Rust tools like cargo and rustup, to building out integrations with existing internal services and tools, to helping Amazon builders follow Rust best practices throughout their build pipelines. You’ll work across Amazon and AWS ensuring that our solutions meet the needs of one of our most demanding customers — our own developers.
Key job responsibilities
You’ll be a good fit for this role if you can lead the development of technically ambiguous projects, own mission critical code, work with open-source projects, and think big. If you’re excited about improving developers’ lives, being a force-multiplier for large numbers of service teams, and want to lead from the cutting-edge, this is the team for you. You’ll solve challenging problems relating to build toolchain ergonomics, cross-language compatibility, dependency management at Amazon scale, best practice development, and more.
About the team
The primary goal is to collocate ownership of the most critical software language components needed by Amazon developers, so that our language ecosystems can be managed actively and holistically. The secondary intent is to form a center of expertise within Builder Tools that’s focused on how Amazon develops and shares code at scale.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Seattle, WA, USA
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
