Maxim Healthcare is looking for an LCSW in Alton, IL for the following -
Performs professional social work services involving the advanced application of social work
principles, techniques and evaluations, as well as clinically sophisticated diagnostic recognition
and implementation of appropriate treatment interventions of adults on a forensic unit
manifesting complex emotional and psycho-social disorders.
• Identifies and acquires additional clinical information to construct a robust
understanding of patient problems and treatment needs.
• Provides professional program management to assigned units and caseload.
• Evaluates and identifies clinical problems.
• Identifies a wide range of resources in the development of a plan which includes
inpatient/outpatient treatments, financial, housing and support services to be used in
the development of appropriate treatment goals and objectives.
• Coordinates, organizes and accurately communicates about services between the
patient, members of a multi-disciplinary team, community agencies and family members
or significant others to promote their understanding, cooperation and participation in the
rehabilitation services.
• Directs the implementation of and follows-up on the in-hospital course of treatment.
• Promotes and synchronizes multiple services which direct patients to attainment of their
goals.
Interviews patients, family members and/or significant others to obtain pertinent psycho-social
data to identify, evaluate and develop treatment goals and objectives.
• Analyzes information to accurately identify the patient’s functional and emotional status.
• Evaluates and interprets all available information and assessment materials to facilitate
both initial and ongoing treatment planning conferences with physicians, nurses and
other members of the treatment team.
• Conducts fitness to stand trial assessments, writes associate reports and collaborates
with treatment team to formulate legal opinions.
• Communicates and collaborates with legal personnel from jurisdictional courts and
synthesizes legal and clinical factors to formulate short and long term goals and plans.
Serves as an advocate for patients and as a resource for other members of the treatment team.
• Engages in counseling in-regards to problems, emotional status, needs and future
plans.
• Monitors, promotes and protects patient’s rights.
• Answers patient’s questions and concerns about treatment towards achieving treatment
and service goals.
• Develops and maintains professional working relations with a wide variety of community
resources in support of assuring adequate patient treatment and housing needs are
met upon discharge.
Serves as a qualified examiner.
• Makes clinical diagnosis.
• Signs certificates of admissions for involuntary court ordered admissions.
• Presents certificate in court regarding competency of patient.
• Testifies in court regarding the need for continued involuntary hospitalization.
Serves as a program manager for and coordinates and recommends the course treatment to an
interdisciplinary team.
• As part of a treatment team, identifies options for best practice treatment interventions
in lieu of restraints/seclusions.
• Assists patients in identifying behavior leading to restraint/seclusion and in utilizing
behavior modifications to avoid such treatment options.
• Gathers information from patients about treatment preferences, fears, etc.
Serves as a mental health resource for non-professional direct care staff.
• Confers with them to receive input, observations and recommendations for a patient’s
course of treatment.
• Reviews documentation from service providers to support continuation, revision or
changes in treatment.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the
duties enumerated above.
