Hiring a Service Manager with a background in Utility Trucks & Equipment or related industry.
Summary
You understand the heavy equipment business and have a drive to be an active part of solutions. You set the bar high and set an example for other leaders and colleagues on how to work collaboratively with the highest level of integrity. Act as departmental liaison on matters of production output and other matters with CTOS leadership, customers, and departments as necessary or directed.
Primary Responsibilities
Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all service department employees.
Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees.
Conducts meetings with department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
Break down estimates into labor and parts before the job is started so that repair technicians are aware of time allowances.
Controls the performance of the department using such tools as daily operating control, efficiency and productivity control, comeback reports, warranty reports, telephone surveys, and monthly forecasts.
Monitors repair order trends, such as number of repair orders completed, number of times per repair order, dollar sales per repair order, dollar sales per service advisor, etc.
Ensures that customers’ service files are up-to-date and are readily available for reference.
Follows up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability. Ensures that customers’ trucks and equipment are kept clean.
Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and practice them.
Must refer to MSDS when using any chemicals, substances, and materials, understanding the MSDS information, and abiding by MSDS required personal protective equipment. Must require employees to wear gloves, safety glasses and other PPE for all tasks requiring their use.
Conducts Custom Truck safety training for all Truck Service employees and follows all safety requirements.
Computers – Knowledge and ability to utilize common software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn industry specific software.
Education & Experience
College Education desired or High School diploma with related experience.
Requires three years of related management experience.
Experience as a heavy-duty diesel truck mechanic or related is desired.
