About Senior/Commodity Engineer

  Job Summary

  We are looking for a Commodity Engineer who will manage and implement supply chain strategies for assigned commodities, with alignment to global commodity objectives, to gain the optimum result for the organization. The role will coordinate the deployment of actions in support of the strategic initiatives, working closely with the Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Quality resources. This role will also optimize supply chain effectiveness through continuous improvement of supplier performance. If you possess the requirements we are seeking, this exciting role is for you!

  In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  Develop and implement supply chain strategies to meet manufacturing needs and business objectives.

  Maintain knowledge of global industry activity through close working relationships with suppliers, trade organizations, and market trends

  Participate with other World Area (WA) commodity teams in developing a comprehensive commodity strategy for review and approval with Senior Management. This review will include:

  Understand the needs and objectives of the sites / WA / Business Unit.

  Establish commodity strategies to manage growth and risk within the supply chain.

  Evaluate and select preferred sources.

  Identify, coordinate, and track the implementation of e-sourcing events.

  Complete contract negotiations and quantifying benefits

  Negotiate and implement strategic initiatives for material sourcing and pricing strategies.

  Identify, evaluate, select, and qualify new suppliers.

  Work closely with Global Supplier Quality / Site Quality for tryout part evaluation

  Work with manufacturing sites to phase in new suppliers for production volume

  Manage supplier performance:

  Develop structured process with suppliers to set and monitor metrics.

  Develop supplier plans/goals that drive continuous improvement in manufacturing process, inventory, and capacity planning.

  Develop Project Plans, coordinate activities and hold multi-functional partners accountable to implement plans.

  Other Tasks:

  Complies to Emerson’s Code of Conduct and Corp GSC / FCV GSC’s guidelines.

  Adheres to Emerson’s values and Supply Chain policies.

  Complete any other tasks assigned by line manager.

  For This Role, You Will Need:

  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent field, with minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

  With technical background in manufacturing and sourcing experience

  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the necessary skills to effectively use the technology and systems specific to the department required

  Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  Good understanding of direct materials, cost control and negotiation
