The ideal candidate will participate in planning, budgeting, and delivering traffic engineering projects including traffic operational analysis, traffic microsimulation models, roadway design, signal design, ITS design, signing and marking, and/or construction traffic control plans, etc. Applicant will be expected to work closely with other members of the Traffic Engineering team as well as other groups in meeting changing project needs. The candidate is expected to provide supervision, technical direction and mentoring to less experienced personnel. Our office provides support for other Jacobs offices and regions, so there is potential opportunity for work on major, exciting projects across the USA and internationally.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform transportation/traffic engineering planning and design including managing tasks and projects and quality control.
Function as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts and techniques.
Perform civil design calculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignments.
Develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity.
Participate in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects.
Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients.
Research traffic analysis, traffic operations, and traffic safety issues and communicate Jacobs innovative approach to City, State, and County officials.
Provide guidance to team members on traffic analysis and engineering tasks.
Review overall market trends in traffic engineering and provide input to technical leadership.
Here’s what you’ll need :
Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation/Traffic engineering discipline.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or capability of getting registered through reciprocity within 6 months.
Significant experience in traffic engineering operations and analysis including development of Interstate Justification Access Reports, development of large-scale traffic impact studies, and traffic analysis tasks in support of feasibility and schematic projects.
Experience with traffic design tasks such as signal and sign design, plan production, and estimates.
Demonstrated experience with managing projects and performing as task lead on various traffic engineering projects.
Deep knowledge of various traffic engineering analysis tools such as HCS, Synchro, Vissim, Cap X, SPICE, SIDRA etc.
Substantial experience leading tasks or managing projects in traffic engineering
Ideally, you'll also have:
Professional Traffic Operations Engineering Certification
Project management experience and task-leading on traffic engineering work
Significant experience in writing technical reports
Previous work experience with TxDOT and other Texas municipalities
