POSITION OVERVIEWThe Senior Telecommunications/Electronics Technician assists and performs QA/QC, planning, design, development, engineering, implementation, procurement, logistics, evaluation, test, sustainment, systems retirement, and ancillary services at Tobyhanna Army Depot and various predetermined locations.Position is Contingent Upon Contract Award
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIESPerform QA/QC for OSP/ISP systems.Support OSP/ISP systems to include AC/DC power systems (generators, battery systems, inverters, rectifiers, power distribution, and grounding systems), and IT systems consisting of inside and outside copper and fiber optic cable infrastructure, manhole and duct systems, direct buried cables, aerial/pole mounted cables, and telecommunication rooms.Lead large technical efforts and provides expert consultation: Perform OSP/ISP site surveys and document site telecommunications configurations and client requirements.Design and optimize telecommunications' topologies. Direct and lead development of engineering installation packages, Project Coordination Memoranda, and project drawings.Develop on-site work schedules.Direct and lead documentation of the configuration changes at each site.Observe system tests and conduct surveillance for discrepancies.Travel required.Overtime may be required.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSInterim Secret Clearance- must be finalized 180 days after hire.Must have 2 years of telecommunications /electronics vocational training or professional certification from an ABET accredited technical school or equivalent military school and 10 years' experience.Knowledge of OSP/ISP IT implementation and OSP/ISP Standards (Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Rural Utilities Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), National Electric Code (NEC), etc.)Knowledge in OSP and ISP Design.Ability to read, understand, and modify engineering drawings.Ability to make sound technical decisions.Knowledge of OSP Safety.Knowledge of fiber and copper cabling, placing, splicing, termination, and testingDoD US Army environment experience.CompTIA Security +Work in a team environment.Excellent Microsoft Excel spreadsheet working knowledge.Proficient in using common test equipment (e.g. digital and Ethernet test sets, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters/analyzers).Proficient in telecommunications equipment, including system interfaces, cable infrastructure, data systems, voice switches, and wireless networks and power/ground issues.Proficient at troubleshooting and activating circuits in the organizing of telecommunications installations on site.
PREFERRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGEEffective verbal and written English communication skills.Must have a good understanding of ad hoc reports.Detail oriented to ensure accurate deliverables, and able to ake initiative to meet deadlines.BICSI CertificationOSHA 30 CertifiedPHYSICAL DEMANDSMust have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
